Gang members: results from the second, third and fourth waves of the International Self-Report Delinquency Study (ISRD)

Fri, September 5, 5:00 to 6:15pm, Deree | Auditorium, Center for the Arts Auditorium

Abstract

In this presentation, the prevalence rates of gang members, as well as the evolution of their presence in these groups will be presented. Their delinquency, their victimization, the presence of girls in such groups, as well as the risk factors associated with gang affiliation will be analyzed. The results are based on a dozen or so countries that participated in the ISRD-2, -3 and -4 study. The sample is made up of pupils aged around 14. The Eurogang definition is used to identify gang members. Significant differences between countries have been highlighted in terms of the prevalence of gang members, just as a significant increase in the presence of girls in certain countries has been observed.
