Restorative Justice for Sexual Harm in Scotland: Findings from an Evaluation Report on the Development of Thriving Survivor’s National Service

Thu, September 4, 4:00 to 5:15pm, Communications Building (CN), CN 2104

Abstract

In 2021, Scottish Government funded the development and set up of a national service offering restorative justice to survivors of gendered violence which was to be led by Thriving Survivors, together with Edinburgh Napier University and Community Justice Scotland. Edinburgh Napier was also responsible for the coordination of the specialist training but also to prepare an internal evaluation of the whole project’s first year for Scottish Government. The evaluation resulted in a large report for Thriving Survivors and Scottish Government.
We (the researchers who evaluated the service and training) aim to present here some of the mixed methodology used, types of data collected and main findings which emerged from the research as well as discuss some of the key takeaways regarding the development of such services and trainings more generally.
