Green Criminology for Correctional Programs: challenges and opportunities based on the experience of Polish correctional facilities

Abstract

Green criminology as a new field of research highlights the importance of environmental protection and its impact on social reintegration and rehabilitation of convicts. This presentation will discuss the challenges and opportunities of rehabilitation and therapeutic programs in Polish correctional facilities, examined through the lens of green criminology. Particular emphasis is placed on the potential of green programs in shaping effective strategies for social reintegration and their influence on shaping penitentiary policy. The work is based on the experiences of Polish penitentiary institutions, highlighting the therapeutic and rehabilitative benefits associated with the use of natural environments in social reintegration.
