The current situation of sentencing the cybercrimes committed in Romania is taken under scrutiny in this paper, containing a few statistics and key empirical dates taken from the judicial practice. As the regulation from Romania imposes sometimes the classification of cybercrime-related conducts under multiple offenses, in this analysis, we examine how many offenses are retained in cases judged by certain Romanian courts, highlighting the most frequently encountered situations in practice. Moreover, we verify the trends of sentencing for first time offenders in cybercrime and the way in which the courts determine the quantum of the penalty imposed in those cases.
