Session Submission Type: Roundtable
Restorative justice in cases of gendered violence remains highly controversial. This roundtable session is planned as a forum for in-depth discussion, challenging preconceptions and biases about the role of restorative justice in responding to gendered violence. Bringing together an international and multidisciplinary audience, the session invites participants to critically engage with contrasting perspectives on the potential and limitations of restorative justice in this context. The co-authors of a forthcoming monograph on this topic will facilitate the discussion, creating space for an interactive exchange of ideas. The session will start with a brief introduction to key themes, followed by an open discussion addressing critical questions. The roundtable will highlight issues that will be recognisable and relevant not only for researchers but also to practitioners and policymakers, who will be encouraged to share their experiences with innovative justice approaches and provide feedback on the ideas presented.
