Session Submission Type: Roundtable
Prof. Josep M. Tamarit (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya) will moderate this roundtable with Prof. Myriam Herrera (University of Seville), postdoctoral researcher Ane Viana (University of the Basque Country) and Prof. Gema Varona (President of the World Society of Victimology). The Revista of Victimología/Journal of Victimology was launched in 2015 by the Catalan and Basque Victimology Societies and is open access, published in both English and Spanish. In ten years, this peer-reviewed journal, which is indexed in several databases, has provided articles by many international authors on a variety of topics and crimes (online and offline), representing the evolution of perspectives and research questions in theoretical and applied victimology. These research questions include complex issues of prevention, intervention and reparation for victims in relation to social control actors, perpetrators, bystanders, systems and society at large.
Each participant in the roundtable, a mix of experienced and young victimologists, will contribute by selecting published articles from different countries and commenting on how their reading has contributed to the deepening and application of victimology in different continents and countries. In particular, and engaging the audience with real cases and scenarios, within the main theme of this Eurocrim, the logos of crime and punishment will be compared with the logos (and cronos) of victimisation and reparation, as explained or understood in the selected articles.
Myriam Herrera Moreno, Faculty of Law, University of Sevilla
