Thu, September 4, 5:30 to 6:45pm, Communications Building (CN), CN 3105

Session Submission Type: Roundtable

Abstract

Our roundtable will go over the work on the Mendelsohn Archive. We will discuss the archive's impact for studying victimology today, as well as its implications for future research. The session will begin with an update on the archive's progress, including digital advancements, site and document accessibility, and research applications.
We will then have a broader discussion about key topics from the archive.
These include Mendelsohn's contributions to victims' rights, polyvictimization, vulnerability, and the place of genocide in victimology.
In addition, we will look at the connections between feminism, victimology, and gender perspectives.
Our roundtable will examine Mendelsohn's impact from a victim-centered perspective. It will also consider how the archive can assist with continuing research and policy discussions.
Finally, we will discuss the possibility of publishing a special edition focused on the archive, its key documents, and the interdisciplinary impact of victimology and Mendelsohn's ideas. This will emphasize their relevance to contemporary victimology.
