Rejoining Voices: Multilingual and Multimodal Challenges in Chinese Bamboo-Slip Databases

English Abstract

Focusing on the digital reconstruction of early Chinese bamboo manuscripts, this paper analyzes how encoding strategies must reconcile multiple writing traditions, regional forms, and modern translation layers. It reflects on plurilingualism as both an interpretive and technical problem: how to capture the interplay between physical reconstruction and linguistic mediation.
