This study aims to conceptualize an interdisciplinary research framework for political communication and urban politics. Drawing on two social scholars’ theories, Pierre Bourdieu’s theory of practice and Jürgen Habermas’s theory of public sphere, this study offers an urban politics research model that simultaneously deals with the dimensions of power struggle and symbolic struggle in urban politics. The theoretical modeling is discussed from an ecological approach to social studies and constructed with a methodological suggestion of tripartite social network analysis.
