This paper seeks to identify the extent to which the national TV and radio discussion programme Sema Kenya (Kenya Speaks), designed to support more accountable, peaceful and inclusive state-society relations, was able to achieve its aim during the specific context of the Kenya 2013 election. To gain an in-depth understanding of the issues surrounding this question, this paper also examines the overall role played by the Kenyan media in order to identify and contextualise any specific contribution made by Sema Kenya.
