Comparing Different Species: Journalism Education in the US and Romania

Abstract

The task of comparing U.S. and Romanian journalism education is made difficult not because at least a minimum of equivalence cannot be established but that it resides in different contexts, educational, societal, and professional. These various differences are anchored in the most important of differences: culture. The proposed paper explores these differences as a way of understanding journalism education beyond curricula, the nature of the faculty, and the stated expectation of producing future journalists.
