This paper looked for the combination of causal conditions that explain countries with more digital campaigns. The paper uses fuzzy-set logic over a sample of 263 civic digital campaigns from 2010 to 2012 in 42 countries. It was found five recipes that combined some structural, cultural and sociopsychological variables in the explanation of countries with high civic digital activism. The two recipes, with best consistency and coverage, first included being more conservative countries in terms of values, with more self-expression values, and postmaterialist values. The second causal recipe includes being a poor country, having a higher average of years of schooling, and exhibiting a tradition of off-line participation.
