Session Submission Type: Panel
The proposed panel aims to advance the theoretical and methodological understanding of communication practices that are part and parcel of the everyday interactions humans have with technology. In this panel, we combine live presentations with brief 2 minute pre-recorded presentations to be inclusive of researchers outside the U.S. Panelists will illustrate the use of local strategies research in a variety of contexts, including cell phone usage in Finland and Macau, interactions during an online English language course for Chinese students, new technologies used in automobiles, and online learning and group meetings. These different contexts and participants will provide examples for the way relationships are developed and mediated technologically, and pose implications for user experience design.
