Hollywood Narrative in U.S. Development in the Middle East

Abstract

Development as intervention relies on communication discourse as well as communication strategy. In this study we explore the degree to which modernization and Orientalist perspectives permeate US development discourse about its role in the Middle East, and how this resonates with other communication narratives, established through globally dominant video game and film industries.
