This paper follows a previous article titled ‘Japanese Only’, presented in 2015 at the CAJ, the Japanese chapter of the ICA in Nagoya. In this first study, we attempted to estimate the impact of ethnocentrism in Japan on preferences in gay online dating. This new article expands the scope of the subject in an in-depth case study. The interviewee presents a unique situation, highlighting the issues raised when one does not fit the standard societal definitions in Japan. The study recounts his experience as a dating applications user, and the shortcomings he faces as a bisexual man, coming from a multi-ethnic background.
