Introduction to rtweet: Collecting Twitter Data

Abstract

For communication researchers, real-time Twitter data offers a number of advantages. Unfortunately, formulating requests to Twitter and then wrangling the resulting data is no easy task. This paper introduces rtweet: Collecting Twitter Data, a free open-source R package designed to making requesting, retrieving, and wrangling large amounts of Twitter data easier.
