Abstract

Popular narratives are one way of shaping people’s perception especially on controversial or sensitive topics. Little research, however, exists on the effect of a transgender-themed narrative on people’s beliefs and attitudes about transgender persons and issues. Given the nascent area of research understanding public beliefs and attitudes about transgender people, this study advances our understanding of the presentation of transgender people in a popular narrative consumed by public by analysis the mental models constructed by viewers of Transgender-themed popular TV drama. This study analyzes the mental model drawings of 30 participants to understand their views about transgender persons
