Aligned with previous research on governance of communicative spaces this article is organised in two main parts. The first, theoretical, explores social media and geomedia enhanced demonstrations challenging the notion of public sphere. The circuit of devices, discourses and communicative practices forms an interface of political interactions, the communicative space, that critically defines the features of democracy. The second part of this article combines empirical findings to develop an already existing analytical tool designed for the understanding of the complexity of those communicative spaces. Research has provided tools and strategies to understand the role of representations of place; but the same findings have shown that this does not suffice to holistically and critically approach the configurations of space. This paper focuses on the structures of space that establish conditions for the information flows and channelling the debates. Results show three subcategories for the analysis of structures: barriers, shifts, and flows.
