This study aims to identify the professional capabilities necessary for the U.S. public relations professionals to succeed in the field. We conducted a three-stage study in the USA (Stage 1: Delphi interviews; Stage 2: Online survey; Stage 3: Semi-structured interviews) among public relations educators, employers, and practitioners with the goal to identify U.S.-specific capabilities of the profession. The study is a part of the large, two-year-long international research project Global Capabilities for Public Relations. The goal of the project is to construct a global capabilities framework for public relations practitioners, employers -- and the profession.
