While leadership educators often make the case that developing students’ leadership competencies is critical for preparing them for future career success, how can we empirically support the assertion that higher education is doing so? This session will showcase research findings based on an analysis of 36,327 learning outcomes across 605 academic programs in all 83 higher education accrediting organizations in the U.S. The goal was to uncover the most prominent leadership competencies embedded within those learning outcomes, assess whether those competencies align with critical workforce competencies, and examine the extent to which those competencies are similar across degree levels.
