Session Submission Type: Roundtable Discussion
Foundations are an important factor in research funding. The EUFORI study gave the first comprehensive overview over the European landscape research funding foundations. Building on the EUFORI Study, this session will show the importance of foundations for research in Europe and hint at their specific roles in research funding. What is the correlation between government and foundation funding and are there new forms of financing? What are new possibilities for partnerships? Afterwards, we will discuss how it is to be funded by foundations, by a Swiss case study on a research institute that was founded by foundations and a broader beneficiaries’ perspective from Germany.
