Session Submission Type: Meeting
The ISTR Gender Affinity Group was formed in 2002 to increase the representation of women in ISTR keynote speakers and leadership roles. We achieved a lot of successes; a number of gender specific panel presentations at ISTR conferences, a brilliant keynote speaker, Dr Thoraya Obaid, in 2010. The group also published an anthology; Women's emancipation and civil society organisations: Challenging or maintaining the status quo? (Policy Press) in 2016. But then we went a bit quiet and haven't been active since the pandemic. Our original aims are still just as important as ever, providing a focus and support for people researching gender issues within third sector organisations. But the research landscape has changed enormously in the last few years. We want to hear from you, about your work, your challenged and your ideas. Some possible areas of focus might be:
a. developing constructive dialogue between researchers holding very different views about gender
b. keeping gender on the agenda!
c. highlighting new areas for gender research.
Please join us for our meeting in Antwerp! All welcome!
