The civic space has been under attack in the last years, populist regimes doesn’t like the equilibrium of power, so they react against the CSO making their development much more difficult or some of them are co-opted by the state. Al the same time some citizens start to reject the organizations because of the attacks of the populist leaders and the media. At the same time illiberal regimes don’t stay local, so they start to promote backlashes in a transitional bias.
