Abstract

This presentation will address Wenuvil's work with the sounds that characterize the Mapuche community of Juan Currin, an area that has been progressively surounded by an aggressive process of urbanization and environmental violence in the South of Chile. The artist documments environmental degradation and vindicates the sounds of nature as well as the music of Mapuche language as elements of subjective affirmation and collective resistance.
