Enseña por México: A description of the adaptation of the Teach for All model into the Mexican context and recommendations for future evaluations of the program based on initial qualitative findings.

Thu, May 28, 6:00 to 7:45pm, TBA

Abstract

In 2011, Enseña por México was founded and began its strategic planning activities. Two years later in 2013, the team successfully launched the program in Puebla, Mexico and recruited its first cohort of Professionals of Enseña por México (PEMs).
The program in Mexico is already considered a benchmark for other programs from the Teach for All network in Latin America and the world. The organization has hosted several meetings with CEOs and has served as an example in their different areas (e.g.fundraising, recruitment and placement strategies).
The purpose of this paper is to provide a strong initial data and base for future evaluations. It includes descriptive information of the context in which the program Enseña por México was implemented. In addition, an initial qualitative fieldwork provides initial insights and perspectives of the main stakeholders of the program.
The main finding is that while the program is still new, there are key indicators that can be used to measure the program’s success. The conclusions present specific recommendations for future reference on which indicators should be considered.
