Session Submission Type: Panel
Latin American cinema is arguably characterized by an almost congenital condition of precariousness that manifests itself at every level of filmmaking, touching the spheres of production, distribution and reception. This condition also affects film themes and aesthetic choices, which in many cases have turned limiting circumstances into a catalyst for audiovisual creativity. The aim of this panel is to examine diverse manifestations of productive precariousness by analyzing films recently produced in Argentina, Chile, Ecuador and Paraguay.
Circulating Images of Precariousness and Exclusion: Hamaca Paraguaya and 7 Cajas in the Film Festival Circuit - Constanza Burucua, University of Western Ontario
