Session Submission Type: Panel
As Brazil attempts to rise in global affairs, its foreign policy agenda becomes more diversified and complex, thus turning the distinctions between old/new, soft/hard and hot/cold issues less self-evident. This panel addresses some selected topics and partnerships in such agenda and how they are managed (e.g., multilaterally or unilaterally; with/without the incorporation of non-state actors; involving several areas of the state apparatus or encapsulated within Itamaraty; by central, state and/or local governments). We seek to understand to what extent, and how, these issues require an adaptation of policymaking mechanisms and strategies and whether we need to revise our analytical frameworks.
