Session Submission Type: Panel
The strong support of the Venezuelan government for the construction of the Communal State as a means for the political, territorial, and socioeconomic incorporation of the popular sectors raises pressing issues. The objective of our panel is to open a discussion regarding the theoretical debates and intellectual history of the concept, as well as the capacity of the commune to transform the state and the economy, and including the popular sectors without excluding the other sociopolitical groups. The panel will also analyze challenges that arise from concrete experiences, which are diverse, fraught with problems, but that also show significant advances.
