Session Submission Type: Workshop
The workshop wishes to critically revisit the social contract underlying our present neoliberal context and its attendant crises, through an interdisciplinary exchange amongst activist intellectuals and academicians of divergent but mutually convergent interests. The panelists will address, from their particular experience and standpoints, marginalization due to race, class, gender, and sexual orientation; art, aesthetics and contemporary urban malaise; and the challenges presented by the corporatization of higher education vis-a-vis its impacts on academic labor and student life. The concern of the panelists is to present these issues under a broad but cohesive rubric of human rights within the hemisphere.
