Session Submission Type: Panel
Since the 1950s, much has been written on the voting behavior of citizens living in the advanced industrialized democracies. The literature identified important behavior patterns related to socio-demographics, party identification, issues, and candidates, which took the form of a funnel of causality. These patterns have been found to shape voting behavior in a very systematic way in various societies.
The proposed panel will discuss how the funnel of causality works to explain the voting behavior in 18 countries of Latin America. With the use of the three most recent waves of the AmericasBarometer survey, different papers will seek to establish how Latin America Votes.
Socio-Demographic Characteristics and Vote Choice in Latin America - Mathieu Turgeon, Universidade de Brasilia
