Session Submission Type: Panel
In scientific and mass media discourses, geopolitical issues are often framed as the inevitable consequence of geographical preconditions. This interdisciplinary panel (Anthropology, History and Political Science) questions this way of conceptualizing Geopolitics and highlights the importance of imaginaries in the processes of constructing, (re-)defining and narrating certain spaces and the identities in relation to it. The panelists aim at discussing Geopolitics not exclusively as strategies and interests of inner political circles but rather as manifold struggles which manifests themselves in political representations, social movements, religion and nature.
