Session Submission Type: Panel
This panel studies the ways in which Latin American visual artists, film directors, hypermedia creators and digital writers have imagined and distributed a rich variety of visual and digital futures. Papers cover a wide range of media to explore how creators appropriate and transform tropes from international archives of science fiction motifs to articulate their own visions of the future, while they also creatively work around and beyond constraints imposed by resources that cannot be compared to those of Hollywood or societies in which almost unlimited Internet bandwidth is available. A second panel on literary SF complements this session.
