Sat, April 29, 6:00 to 7:45pm, TBA

Session Submission Type: Roundtable

Abstract

This roundtable will explore new research and methodologies on U.S. intelligence agencies in Latin America. We will discuss new sources and innovative use of existing materials to interrogate the complex political, military, and cultural arsenal that the United States deployed in Latin American. The areas presenters will address include the FBI's surveillance of the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party across Latin America, FBI’s surveillance of the political and labor left in Ecuador, the interplay between corporate and U. S. government interests in Venezuela, and U.S. involvement in Colombian internal politics in the context of anti-Nazi campaigns during World War II.
