The purpose of this panel is first, to discuss different social leadership initiatives in Latin America and to derive best practices and a better understanding of the capabilities needed by social responsible leaders in the public sphere and private industries. First, there will be a discussion of “La Juanita” cooperative success that have led to deep changes in Laferrere community, part of La Matanza in greater Buenos Aires, Argentina. Next, a case study of how sports initiatives and local government support has led to a transformation of the City of Barranquilla, Colombia. Next, four successful cases of companies involved in the improvement of their collaborators in Costa Rica will be discussed. Finally, we will wrap up this panel with a reflection –based on the cases presented in this panel and a Delphi study in Mexico- about the capabilities needed by social responsible leaders.
