Session Submission Type: Symposium
The “worlds” we inhabit, imagine, and build -- classrooms, communities, polities -- provide moorings from which we theorize and practice literacy. “Worlds,” then, are not just neutral containers for activity -- they do things and have real consequences for all who share them. This symposium explores the relationship between worldmaking and literacy across a range of research contexts. It asks: how might notions of worldmaking be mobilized toward justice and equity in literacy research, teaching, and learning?
