This study examines seven award-winning children’s books published between 2013 and 2022 about resisting bullying. Using narrative analysis, we highlight characteristics of these plots, including an absence of upstanders, unrealistic resolutions, and simplistic before-after turning points. We suggest approaches to selecting desirable books and discussion prompts to use with books on bullying.
