This study engaged preservice teachers (n=22) in focus groups aimed to elicit dialogue/ reflection about how they intend to use visual images in their classrooms. Curated image arrays on human-climate experience were focalizing artifacts, used in conjunction with a focus group protocol. Findings highlight the need for preservice teachers to engage in critical analysis of images, by way of both developing their content knowledge and bringing forward assumptions that may negatively impact text selection.
