Kid Writing (KW) is an emergent literacy approach integrating drawing, phonics-based spelling, and teacher scaffolding to support young writers. Using Lewin’s Three-Stage Change Model, this study examines KW’s impact on early literacy development at two urban PreK centers. Findings reveal KW fosters spatial and conceptual bridges between classrooms, homes, and local universities, influencing teaching practices and parent engagement. This research contributes to discussions on early literacy by emphasizing writing’s role alongside phonics-based reading instruction.
