Recent state and national standards have introduced engineering as required content for elementary classrooms. At the same time, teachers are charged with continuing to address the needs of learners who are increasing in linguistic diversity. With a particular focus on literacy and translanguaging, this work-in-progress study explores how elementary teachers can address the dual challenges of language diversity and new expectations related to teaching of engineering
