This study examines educators’ views on the legislation's efforts to censor and restrict materials that are available to students in schools. Informed by sensemaking theory and symbolic interaction perspective, we designed, pilot-tested, and administered a statewide survey to educators in Tennessee. Preliminary findings provide insight into how educators navigate concerns around instructional material restrictions policies, while contributing to the broader conversation regarding classroom conduct, educational policies, and intellectual freedom.
