This study examined how positive narrative reflection in collaborative composition reshaped student behavior and engagement. By reflecting on their contributions and setting goals, middle schoolers—like Dennis, who was initially disruptive—reframed their identities, fostering collaboration and agency. Case study methodology and discourse analysis showed how reflection cultivated civil literacies, empowering students as knowledge co-constructors. Educators can apply these strategies to transform classroom dialogue, promoting inclusivity, engagement, and productive action in multimodal composing.
