While research has highlighted English dominance and gentrification of dual language bilingual education (DLBE) programs (Palmer, D., & García-Mateus, 2023), little is known about pre-service teachers’ (PSTs) language ideologies in Chinese DLBE programs. This study draws upon theories of language ideologies and transnationalism to investigate the emerging language ideologies of four transnational PSTs in a Chinese DLBE program in the U.S. Using photo-elicitation interviews, it highlights PSTs’ ideological shifts, tensions, and navigation of monolingual ideologies.
