Wed, December 3, 3:00 to 4:30pm, Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino, Floor: Mezzanine Floor, Sunset 6

Abstract

In this article, researchers explore the various forms of community cultural wealth operating in two diverse schools within a single school district. Through interviews and observations, the research team identified literacy practices, knowledge, and insights that can inform culturally responsive learning experiences for children. Through interviews with administrators, teachers, parents, and community members, the researchers not only learned about each school community, but also identified literacy practices that promise to support literacy learning for children
