Writing Abilities of Elementary Students with Diverse Backgrounds and Learning Needs: A Pilot Study

Abstract

This qualitative, exploratory practitioner research project investigates the writing abilities and instructional needs of elementary students with diverse language backgrounds and learning profiles in a tutoring context. This study involves three main components: a parent survey, student writing sessions, and parent and student interviews. Educational implications include addressing the need for inclusive and accessible writing supports outside the classroom. Attendees will gain insight into tutor, parent, and student perspectives on writing.
