This session presents a study of a Literacy, Language, and Culture Ph.D. program that strives to cultivate a community of doctoras chingonas—multilingual women of color, full-time educators, and fierce advocates for justice—who bridge power divides across class, race, language, and education. The doctoras will present testimonios emphasizing the ways that new theory and research empowered them to unpack linguistic and cultural harms, investigate educational oppression, and envision new practices for disrupting injustice.
