This roundtable will present findings from a research project where a multigenerational group of education researchers experimented with using generative AI for qualitative data analysis. Using a data set that was already qualitatively analyzed in the “traditional” way, this work explores possible roles (e.g., tool, thought partner, agent), risks, and affordances of AI for analysis. In addition to data samples and comparison of analyses, we will share lingering questions and implications for further research.
