This presentation highlights the need and roadmap for an ethical reading of texts. I propose a conceptual framework that facilitates a reader to understand the demand of addressivity, responsibility of answerability, and capacity of authoring themselves. I conclude with a related pedagogical framework of reading as witnessing to close spatial, relational, and critical distances between reader and text, to foster empathy, critical reflection, and social responsibility to address injustice and bridge societal divides.
