K-2 teachers play a critical role in interpreting and implementing literacy policies in their classroom practice. This roundtable discussion explores preliminary findings from a mixed-method survey study examining how K-2 literacy teachers make sense of emergent literacy policy messages. This study draws on sensemaking theory to investigate teachers’ interpretation of literacy policy and the factors shaping their sensemaking. This session will offer participants the chance to explore the relationship between literacy policy and practice.
