This systematic review of 31 studies examines oral storytelling (OST) practices in early childhood education and their impact on narrative skills and emergent literacy. The analysis of qualitative and quantitative data reveals that OST positively affects both “macro” and “micro” narrative skills, measured through various methods and enhances other emergent literacy practices. The findings suggest that OST offers educators a holistic approach to teaching narrative skills effectively to young learners in early childhood classrooms.
