Thu, December 4, 3:00 to 4:30pm, Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino, Floor: Mezzanine Floor, Melrose 3

Abstract

This qualitative study explores the civic literacies of Asian immigrant adolescents, highlighting their unique perspectives and challenges in engaging with civic issues. Through a digital civic literacy class, the research examines how these youth negotiate their identities and shape their civic engagement amidst a complex societal context. The findings reveal the importance of identity-affirming education in empowering marginalized communities and fostering inclusive democratic participation, thereby contributing valuable insights to the field of civic literacies.
